What you should know about Fernlea School
To provide all children with a range of experiences that will support them to make certain decisions about their well being. I look forward to meeting many of you and representing our school community. To prepare our children to become confident, independent people who love learning and aim for personal excellence. Mutukaroa is a home school learning partnership that seeks to accelerate learning progress and achievement for students in Years 1, 2 and 3 by fostering the active engagement of parents and Ch nab in learning partnerships, and to yield them with the tools and knowledge necessary for them to support the development of core skills in their children.
More capable students and others who wish to be involved are encouraged to achieve advanced library skills to help staff as pupil librarians. Communication between home and school is vital in supporting students with their learning. These written reports bear parents with information on how the children are progressing and achieving against the national standards and what they can do at home to help. I have had my own business for the end 29 years, selling and supporting an accounting package hence the connection with preparing the accounts.
If you have any concerns, you are encouraged to face with your child’s teacher. Fern lea School also works closely with Wainuiomata Intermediate and assisting Year 6 students transitioning into their Year 7 years at school. What is imperative for me as a principal is that our children are capable to attain personal excellence and exit Fern lea ready for the after stage of their learning. I’ve enjoyed being actively involved in the school since my children started attending and I see my role on the Board as a further opportunity to assist where I can and to also be actively involved in the coming direction of the school.
The links between home and school are actively encouraged by our staff at Fern lea School. These learning conversations are led by the students and focus on what the student is currently learning about and what their next steps are. I have been piece of the Fern lea community for 12 years, from when my eldest started school here. This is because for students to achieve personal excellence they need to feel safe, happy and valued by the teacher. This means that children from outside our approved zone can only attend Fern lea School should space be available.
We have a role that ranges between 220 and 250 and are very proud of the positive relationships that students have at Fern lea. I'm honored to be a segment of the Fern lea Board and am focused on providing the best opportunities for the students of this school, and offer the School Principal and Staff the direction and governance to enable that. I have worked at Fern lea School for 9 years where I started as the Fresh Entrant teacher. At Fern lea School we work hard to deliver a curriculum that meets the needs and interests of our students. This programmed fulfill the requirement to undertake swimming instruction as detailed in the Health and Physical Well Being curriculum.
Older children have the opportunity to represent the school in sporting activities with children from other schools. If you live exterior the school zone, you will need to discuss your options with the Principal at Fern lea. Mathematics and English form the basis of our curriculum and we labor firm to teach these using genuine life contexts
