A significant driver for the project was the 125th Anniversary, however, as material for the displays was researched and various storerooms rifled through , it quickly became apparent that some of our historic treasures were deteriorating in storage areas that could only politely be described as, inadequate. That was the catalyst and as a result, the digitising archiving program was completed. Silverware, Caps, Medals, significant and not so significant pieces are also displayed, all adding to the character and stories that are told in the five individual cabinets. During the 125th Anniversary weekend, Sky and Maori Television crews were in the club catching all the action.
Petone had a four year reign as Premier Champions between 1904 and 1907 and the Club set a memorable record in the 1907 season when it won all championship grades in the Wellington competition. In the 1971 season the Premier team won the Premier competition and the Jubilee Cup for the fifth consecutive season and became the first club in the history of Wellington rugby to achieve this feat since the club competition was commenced in 1868. The Club fields 9 teams in the Wellington Union's competition grades from Premier to Under 21 including Presidents over 35 year olds . The Petone Club is situated at the lower end of the Hutt Valley on a site in Udy Street. Outdoor training floodlit fields at North Park and on Petone Recreation ground on the other side of Udy Street.

We were both just 18 and it was our first time away from home for any real length of time.
My memories and connection with the Petone Rugby Football Club started as a five year old in 1965 when I spent the first of a few years in the bantam’ grade. Tom Copeland and I only played one season with the U19’s under coach Gary French, but the time with the Petone Rugby Club really left its mark. This coming Labour Weekend that great school Hutt Valley Memorial Technical College more commonly known to those in the Hutt as Petone Tech’ is having a reunion for no other reason than to celebrate the memory of a College mis understood by everyone that didn’t go there and now cherished by those that did, if not while we were students. Wellington club rugby's premier trophy, the Jubilee Cup, was presented by the Wellington Rugby Football Union in 1929 in recognition of its golden jubilee year and is awarded to the winner of the competition among the top eight teams in the Premier One division.
From their first win in 1930, they have gone on to record a further 22 Jubilee Cup titles, including an unprecedented five consecutive wins between
