Fellowship Friendship EHR actively promotes the values of Rotary through its commitment to Leadership and Action. Each director’s role is to promote acquaintance and friendship among the committee members on the basis that Rotary members want to enjoy their Rotary experience and are there because they want to be’. promote Rotary friendship exchanges, club to club, district to district or country to country. Encourage members to create and champion projects that will enhance Club friendship, and take on the role of Project Manager for their choice.
We are working within our District to create a strategy that implements our part of Rotary International's Strategic Plan. Charitable Trust EHR has formed a a charitable trust, the Rotary Club of Eastern Hutt Charitable Trust registered under the Charities Act 2005, in order to clearly distinguish our charitable work and finances from our Club business. The first Rotary Club was organised in Chicago in 1905 by Paul Harris, a young lawyer.
He sought to form a club that enabled business and professional people to join together for fellowship and collectively to help others. Rotary is now a world wide fellowship of people who enjoy each others’ company and accept the ideal of service, individually and collectively, as the basis for success and happiness in professional and community life. Rotarians are men and women of good character who are respected in their chosen vocations. The professional occupation classification system is now less important than in former days, and it is the willingness to offer service to the community, locally or internationally, that is valued.

To provide encouragement, create a congenial atmosphere, and improve systems for more effective and efficient operations. We will have more people doing more of the work that is more fulfilling for them and for everyone in the club.
By its leadership and organisation, it will facilitate and encourage the active participation of all its members and partners and fully mobilise their expertise and skills. By the quality of its service programmes and through partnerships with Government, commercial agencies, charitable organisations and other service clubs it will gain leverage to attract the funding necessary to make significant gains for society. As Rotarians, we will use our skills to make it happen utilising to the full, external sources of money and effort. By maintaining a high quality of formal and informal meetings and good Club istration, foster the spirit of fun and friendship and, in so doing, maintain a healthy level of high quality and motivated members
