She has exhibited widely over 25 years and has taught at various institutions for the last 16 years. Rachel graduated with a Diploma of Art Creativity from The Learning Connexion in 2006. He mentors at The Learning Connexion and currently works from his studio in Kaikoura. Mentor and Certificate Tutor Karla’s background is in graphic design and illustration.
She has been a tutor here since 2001 and teaches life drawing, watercolour, portraiture and icon painting classes as well as working as a mentor for distance delivery students. Painting Tutor Sarah teaches painting as well as studying TLC’s Diploma of Art and Creativity Advanced Programme. Jude is an installation artist and mentors students who study via distance at TLC. 3D Tutor Dennis is a member of the Sculpture Symposium Trust and tutors students in the techniques of sculpture.
Working with students at The Learning Connexion, Mel enjoys being constantly exposed to new creative challenges as she assists students to explore. TLC is a 26 year old company employing over 50 staff and teaching approximately 700 students across New Zealand and around the world. Our distance delivery system offers national and international students the same quality of provision as is received by those on site. By drawing from your life experiences we enable you to develop your individual creativity and see how this relates to the wider world.

The creativity skills you develop at The Learning Connexion can be transferred to any field. Our main Hot Arts area contains a foundry for melting and casting bronze and other metals, as well as a welding and fabrication room for creating and assembling metal sculptures. Please ensure you take your vehicle over to TLC straight after the ceremony, as the Taita College carpark will be locked by security after the ceremony.
Students in the open studio sculpture classes and Friday’s mould making class can pursue projects in glass. Using the working studios, our on site students, distance study students and students in our Corrections programme all contribute new work to make a diverse and exciting exhibition. Our campus is a lively, action packed art space, where students and tutors explore their creative ideas in a supportive environment. In this studio students develop strong technical computer skills that are combined with other art techniques and classes.
